Following Instructions
So sometime in the last blur of a month, I asked Andrew to record something Felicity was doing with our dvd recorder; - however he discovered the battery was dead and couldn't find the power cord. - Since we were pretty busy at the time we just dropped it. -
The next day I got out of the shower to find this. -

Justice had found the dvd recorder's bag and cords.....
"Hey Mom- you don't have to worry about this recorder... I'm charging it for you so next time you can use it RIGHT when you want it!! " :)
He had hooked up the recorder to the correct power cord (I keep several all together) and was looking through the rest of the cords for the second half of it.
The next day I got out of the shower to find this. -
Justice had found the dvd recorder's bag and cords.....
"Hey Mom- you don't have to worry about this recorder... I'm charging it for you so next time you can use it RIGHT when you want it!! " :)
"See mom? It's easy becuase they show you how to hook it up.- I guess Dad didn't see this.." :)
The key to his sucess? - My son LOVES 'directions' especially any with pictures...(since he can't really read yet) humorous to me since I don't think my husband OR I have looked at this booklet once since getting our camcorder.... hmmm it made me wonder why he thought to look for the manual...
My mom last year for his birthday had given him a whole bunch of paper projects ready to go that have a page which shows in pictures, step by step how to do each project.
- Being an independant first born, - he realized that if he followed the instructions, - he didn't need to wait for my help with every little thing, and could complete whole projects on his own.
Lately he has taken on some pretty complicated Lego sets given for Christmas, which once again, he 'reads' and follows them step by step, litterally for hours, until he completes a the fire-truck, etc.
I realized he has learned to love the manuals and directions becuase he loves the results they give him.
As I raved about his incredible inteligence (with a gentle reminder he needs to check with me or dad before touching electronics next time!) we discussed that just as manuals that show him how to be sucessful in building his projects, and accomplishing his goals, - God has given us a set of very clear instructions that will guide us to his blessings in all that we do, and ultimately to etternal life.
" Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children,: for blessed are they that keep my ways.
Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.
Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.
For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord.
But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul:
all they that hate me, love death."
Proverbs 8 : 32-36

What a blessing! The boys and I have been reading in the Old Testament for Bible time for a while, but just started back in Proverbs because we need wisdom. Seems foolishness had been gaining ground and what better way to combat that then the Word!
